Every chapter of Grace Christian School’s story reflects God’s provision, the faithfulness of those who came before us, and a commitment to preparing students to live for His glory.
A Vision Begins
Grace Christian School opened its doors at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Bennington, Vermont, with a small group of students and a big vision for Christ-centered education.
The school began by serving children in kindergarten through fifth grade, establishing a foundation of faith and academic excellence.
The First Move
As Grace grew, the school moved to Green Mountain Christian Center. The additional space allowed the school community to continue developing and demonstrated God’s provision for its mission.
An Angel Donor
A generous supporter felt led to invest in the mission and vision of Grace through the purchase and extensive renovation of a former hotel.
This extraordinary act of generosity helped provide a permanent home for generations of Grace students.
A Permanent Home
Grace settled into its permanent campus at Kocher Drive and Route 7, in the former Ramada Inn.
The campus later underwent a multimillion-dollar transformation. The former indoor swimming pool became a gymnasium, while the hotel bar was transformed into a science laboratory.
Building a Complete School
Beginning with kindergarten through fifth grade, Grace added new grade levels as students advanced.
The growing school provided families with the opportunity to continue Christ-centered education through middle school and high school.
The First Graduating Class
Grace celebrated its first senior graduation, marking a defining achievement in the school’s history.
The vision of providing Christ-centered education from the elementary years through graduation had become a reality.
More Than Buildings and Milestones
As Grace grew, its story was shaped by the daily experiences, relationships, and opportunities that made the school community unique.
Learning Together in Faith
From its earliest years, Grace has remained a non-denominational Christian school rooted in biblical truth.
Thursday chapel became a treasured tradition, bringing students together for worship, prayer, music, student-led programs, and guest speakers.
Growing in Grace
Daily devotions and prayer have been part of Grace’s school life from the beginning.
These moments help students begin each day with their hearts and minds directed toward Christ.
Faith is not simply one part of education at Grace. Biblical truth shapes the way we teach, learn, serve, and live together.
Discovering God’s World
Field trips and hands-on learning have long brought education to life at Grace.
Students are encouraged to explore, ask questions, think critically, and pursue academic excellence beyond the classroom walls.
Engaging both hearts and minds, Grace students learn to recognize God’s handiwork throughout His creation.
Performing with Purpose
Fine arts and athletics have provided generations of students with opportunities to develop and use their God-given talents.
Grace students have performed beloved productions including The Little Mermaid, The Wizard of Oz, and The Lion King, while student-athletes have represented the Lions on the field and court.
Music, drama, visual arts, performance, and athletics have helped students grow in creativity, teamwork, perseverance, and confidence.
Love with the Hands of Jesus
Service learning and missions have long been woven into the Grace experience.
Students have served through community outreach, everyday acts of kindness, and short-term missions in Guatemala, Uganda, and Puerto Rico.
Through service, students discover that following Christ includes compassion, generosity, and meeting the needs of others.
Teachers as Learners
Grace educators have continually sharpened their craft through professional development, annual training, and collaboration.
Their dedication has helped each generation of students benefit from thoughtful teaching and a commitment to excellence.
Grace has also welcomed international students from around the world, enriching school life with new cultures, perspectives, and friendships.
A Place to Belong
Classrooms, hallways, and playgrounds have been the setting for countless memories and lifelong friendships.
Through changing seasons, one thing has remained constant: the importance of a caring Christian school community.
Lives That Left a Legacy
Throughout Grace’s history, faithful individuals have invested their time, resources, and love into the school.
The chapel honors Terry Rousseau; the outdoor classroom remembers Grace’s first principal, Joyce Lloyd, and was furnished through Liam Lynch’s Eagle Scout project.
The gymnasium honors Peter Grimes, and the cafeteria bears Bob Lebert’s name.
These spaces remind us that the story of Grace has been shaped by people who believed in its mission and invested in its future.
Where Little Roots Begin
Grace opened the GCS Childcare Program, extending its ministry to the school’s youngest learners.
This new chapter provides families with a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered environment where children can begin learning and growing from their earliest years.
Rooted for 30 Years
Thirty years of God’s faithfulness have brought Grace Christian School to this milestone year.
We celebrate the generations of students, families, teachers, and supporters who have contributed to our story.
Our roots remain firmly planted in Christ as we look toward the future with faith.
